Pandemellions

The country is on war footing, tasked with taking arms against a virus that's on course to kill millions worldwide and more than 150,000 people in the UK alone. As part of the government, you are briefed daily on the latest public health strategies, and given unique access to the public purse to see their aims are met. Amid sweeping lockdowns, crammed ICU departments, and video-conference funerals, the call of duty resounds through Whitehall. Only you and your colleagues can step up to the plate to make a difference. Only you stand ready and willing to work, day-and-night, enriching yourself and your friends by any means useful.

With all the doom and gloom of the last two years, why not aspire to the hardworking members of government who committed to having a little fun while their constituents were dying? PANDEMILLIONS looks to their example and asks: why not a little something for yourself? Standing astride the public coffers, you must unload as much cash to your pals as possible from Covid relief funds.

In PANDEMILLIONS, you compete with one or more players to see who can spend the most money in thetime it takes for you to get around the game board. Neighbours with no experience manufacturing PPE? Party donors offering help for suspiciously large sums? Former employees setting up companies days, even hours, before receiving an uncontested tender for covid relief remuneration?

It's all to play for in this game of ingenuity.
Where some saw duty, others saw an opportunity.

We aim to bring just a little of that swashbuckling spirit to the everyman. PANDEMILLIONS is not a race to the finish, since the more time you have to traverse the board actually gives you more time to pick up cards and thus funnel public cash toward the duck houses and vintage toby jugs of your pilfering pals.

Use this time wisely.

HOW TO PLAY

The game holds a communal pot of £5.5bn, split between 4 banknotes, as below. These are divvied up to each player, in equal amounts.

50x⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀£100,000 (Blue, Dominic Raab)
50x⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀£1,000,000 (Yellow, Matt Hancock)
50x⠀⠀⠀⠀£10.000.000 (Green. Rishi Sunak)
50x⠀⠀⠀£100,000,000 (Purple, Boris Johnson)
Total⠀£5,555,000,000

Through dice rolls, the player advances a certain number of steps on a board of 50 steps, alternating yellow and green.
Land on green and you pick up one of 30 LOOT cards, each of which details a specific, actual, real-life example of entrepreneurial ingenuity, which you will enact – thus offloading the amount of money specified on the card.

Land on yellow and you pick up one of 30 CHANCE cards, which offers hypothetical scenarios, which may offload huge amounts of money or might tragically gift money back to the public coffers, a situation we must all agree you'll want to avoid.
